What is a therapeutic massage?A therapeutic massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on relieving pain, tension, and stress while promoting overall well-being. It combines various techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and stretching to address specific areas of discomfort or injury. Unlike relaxation massages, therapeutic massages are tailored to target problem areas and support recovery, rehabilitation, and pain management.
-
What are the benefits of a therapeutic massage?Therapeutic massage offers a wide range of benefits, including: Relief from chronic pain and muscle tension Enhanced mobility and flexibility Improved posture and alignment Increased circulation and lymphatic drainage Reduced stress and anxiety levels Support for injury recovery and rehabilitation Prevention of muscle and joint injuries
-
How is a therapeutic massage different from a regular relaxation massage? While both types of massages aim to relax the body, a therapeutic massage is more focused and specific in its approach. It targets specific areas of tension, pain, or injury using techniques like deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, and stretching. A relaxation massage, on the other hand, uses lighter pressure and more fluid movements to promote overall relaxation and stress relief.
-
Does a therapeutic massage hurt?A therapeutic massage may involve deeper pressure and focused techniques that can cause some discomfort, especially when working on areas with tension or knots. However, the level of pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level, and open communication is encouraged throughout the session. Any discomfort should be manageable and should feel like a "good" pain that helps release tension rather than causing distress.
-
Are there any contraindications for therapeutic massage?Certain conditions may require caution or contraindicate a therapeutic massage, such as acute injuries, recent surgeries, blood clots, infections, or certain cardiovascular issues. It’s essential to communicate any health concerns or conditions with me before booking a session. I am happy to discuss your specific situation and adjust the massage techniques accordingly to ensure a safe and beneficial experience.
-
How should I prepare for a therapeutic massage? To prepare for a therapeutic massage, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and stay hydrated before and after the session. It’s also helpful to think about any specific areas of pain or tension you'd like to address so that the session can be customized to your needs. If you have any medical conditions, injuries, or recent surgeries, please inform me in advance.
-
What should I expect during a therapeutic massage session?During a therapeutic massage session, I will focus on specific areas of concern using a combination of techniques suited to your needs. The session begins with a brief consultation to understand your health history and areas of discomfort. You may experience a mix of deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, stretching, and relaxation techniques. The goal is to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve overall mobility. All sessions include aromatherapy, optional hot stones, and optional cupping.
-
How often should I get a therapeutic massage? The frequency of therapeutic massages depends on your individual needs, goals, and lifestyle. For chronic pain, injury recovery, or ongoing tension, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be beneficial. For maintenance and general wellness, once a month may be sufficient. I can work with you to create a personalized massage plan based on your specific needs.

Why is the "Sobada de Matriz Package" a minimum of three months? This protocol is designed as a minimum three-month commitment to provide you with the most effective and sustainable results. Your body needs time to adjust and respond to the treatment, and a longer duration ensures we can address the root causes of your concerns, establish lasting changes, and support your healing journey through consistent care and guidance. If you are trying to conceive, fertility doctors and experts recommend preparing your body at least 3-6 months in advance to create an optimal environment for conception. This preparation period allows time to balance hormones, improve egg quality, and ensure overall reproductive health. It involves adopting a nutrient-rich diet, managing stress, maintaining a healthy weight, and incorporating practices like sobada de matriz to enhance blood flow to the reproductive organs and support uterine alignment. Giving your body this time can increase your chances of a healthy pregnancy and a smooth conception journey.
